Description from the seller

From 1922 to 1937, Caspar was a professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. His works were exhibited at the Degenerate Art Exhibition held in 2010. Subsequently, his paintings and drawings inspired by Christianity, which were equally influenced by Impressionism and Expressionism, were removed from German museums and public collections and/or destroyed, and he was forced to leave his teaching position. In the same year (some sources cite 1944, after the destruction of his home in Munich due to bombing), due to Nazi hostility, he settled with his family in Brannenburg, where he was buried.

Lithography content: The content includes the Mount of Olives, Christ and John, Bethesda, Scourging, Mockery, Ecce Homo, Carrying the Cross, Crucifixion, Pietà, Resurrection. There are 132 engravings by Dr. C. Wolf and Sohn, produced in Munich under the artist's supervision and signed by him. The preferred edition is on parchment, printed on old XII Japanese paper, with an original handwritten drawing by the artist. The stones were polished after printing. The auction concerns the entire set of 10 lithographs, hand-signed.
