The rare and important 1625 ‘final’ edition (‘Derniere Edition’) Of Pierre Charron’s ‘De la sagesse,’ one of the finest works of early modern western philosophy, printed At Paris in octavo by Fuge In 1625, authored by the great friend and disciple of Michel De Montaigne, adorned by a fine engraved title, once owned by John Holles (1662-1711), Duke Of Newcastle. Full 17th century English calf. very good condition. Complete (collates: [32], 802, [16]; [10], 84 pp.). Leaves measure 151x100 mm. We can trace only one example of the 1625 edition at auction since 1990; no other example on the market at present.
