In fairly good condition, signs of wear, glossy paper, pin holes, the back is a little stained, a paper label with annotations is stapled on the front, stamp on the back.

	
The professor was interviewed on December 2nd, 1950 at the NBC, the physicist Albert Einstein reads a statement analysing the grave global risks of the nuclear arms race, and calls for the "peaceful coexistence of nations."

Einstein says that: "The release of atomic energy has not created a new problem.  It has merely made more urgent the necessity of solving an existing one". Because with or without the atomic bomb, "As long as there are sovereign nations possessing great power, war is inevitable.", according to him. "What has changed is the destructive power of war".

"I do not believe that civilization will be wiped out in a war fought with the atomic bomb," tempers however the Nobel prize. "Perhaps two-thirds of the people of the Earth might be killed, but enough men capable of thinking, and enough books, would be left to start again, and civilization could be restored."

The fact remains that the atomic bomb is a danger to humanity, and Albert Einstein made therefore a revolutionary proposal: "I do not believe that the secret of the bomb should be given to the United Nations Organization. I do not believe it should be given to the Soviet Union. (...) The secret of the bomb should be committed to a world government (...). This government should be founded by the United States, the Soviet Union and Great Britain, the only three powers with great military strength.”

Einstein has no trust in the United Nations, created five month and a half ago, and so the idea of a "World Government", which would draft a constitution - to which “the smaller nations” would be invited to join -, and would prefer "competent in all "military matters" with "the power to interfere in countries where a minority is oppressing a majority".

The visionary physicist added: "There must be an end to the concept of non-intervention, for to end it is part of keeping the peace". Somalia, Bosnia, Rwanda, Afghanistan, Libya, Syria: it will take decades before the United Nations go past the principle of non-intervention in the internal affairs of a nation which is registered in its charter.

Do everything to avoid war, it was the position of Albert Einstein in this end of year 1945. "Do I fear the tyranny of a world government? Of course I do. But I fear still more the coming of another war or wars.” he wrote in France-Soir”.

This long article of Albert Einstein is in line with his pacifist views, he expressed throughout his life, despite its commitment to Zionism and Israel. At the end of the war and in the early 1950s, he will fervently condemn the arms race between the United States and the Soviet Union.

And, shortly before his death on April 18th, 1955, he signed, with other Nobel Prize laureates, the "Russell–Einstein Manifesto" calling the major powers to seek peaceful solutions to international conflicts.

The feeling of guilt to have contributed to the making of the atomic bomb will haunt him until his last days, to the point of regretting his famous letter to Roosevelt. "I made one great mistake in my life – when I signed the letter to President Roosevelt”, he confessed to the physicist and Nobel Prize winner Linus Pauling, at the end of his life.
