Francisco Álvarez

A special and decorative 19th century ice axe used in the early mountaineering in Tyrol/Austria/Italy. Length 98 cm. Width blade part 30 cm x 6 cm, tapering. Is not often offered in this antique version. 
The handle is well recessed in the wrought iron and has been fixed with antique brass nails. Also on the bottom of a wrought iron point which can be used when climbing/hiking as a support. A solid brass ring Above it. The slide at the top of the handle for the leather strap for the wrist confirmation is present. A beautiful, decorative, and historical sports attribute from the early days of mountaineering. The condition of the handle is sturdy, and well for his age, with of course beautiful traces of wear / patina in both the iron as the wood. The extensive photo report is part of the description.
