Holland Animation Foundation - key setup - climbing man - Back to the Inkwell (1992)
Size: approx. 35 x 28 cm - Good condition
A so-called ‘key setup’ is the Holy Grail of animation art: a production cel, combined with the original hand-painted background, exactly as the picture in the film (scene 8). This is such a “key setup”, from the short film Back to the Inkwell by Ronald Bijlsma. This film also features Betty Boop and Koko the Clown, with the permission of Fleischer Studios. The entire film can be found on YouTube when you search for ‘Ronald Bijlsma Animations’.
The background is fully hand-painted with watercolours in beautiful bright colours.
