The self-taught Wijnand Otto Nieuwenkamp (1874-1950) developed into an artistic centipede and ethnographer. He wrote books and made beautiful lithographs and wood engravings based on his long and adventurous travels in the early twentieth century to Bali, Java, Egypt and British Raj. Then settled for quite some time in Edam, where he left his traces as a city protector, but spent the rest of his life in Italy, near Florence.
In his early years in the Netherlands and Flanders made many city and village views, including this cool city hall of Veere.
