TABRIZ: these carpets are made in workshops in the city of Tabriz, in the north-west of Iran. The pile of a good Tabriz is short and stiff. The current production of carpets is very high, and the quality ranges from excellent craftsmanship to simpler and cheap bazaar qualities. The pile of a good Tabriz is short and rigid. The decoration can be composed of a central medallion surrounded by arabesques, weeping willows and cypresses. The four seasons, which describe the life of a Persian peasant during spring, summer, autumn and winter, are another popular pattern.
Very finely knotted.
