Description

Here we have a most elegant example of a gentleman’s classic early 1950s, 18ct dress watch from Jaeger-LeCoultre in fully restored condition. The watch is a good size for the period at 33mm and has the most elegant slimline case making the watch only 8mm in depth, including the lens. This watch also has a very highly regarded Jaeger-LeCoultre movement which is very accurate and reliable, making the watch perfect for special occasions or with care, everyday use!

The Dial

The classic ivory cream dial has the most elegant and attractive applied yellow gold spearhead hour indices, which add a certain luxurious touch to the dial. These are complemented by the original restored Dauphine hands, which are in superb condition. The dial has a very clean, simple and understated look. One can tell, even with a superficial glance, this is a vintage gold watch of the highest quality. The subsidiary seconds dial at 6 completes the ensemble beautifully.

The dial is simply signed 'Jaeger-LeCoultre' with 'Swiss' at the very bottom of the dial. The lens is a new original replacement, having been fitted as part of the restoration.

This is the original dial which has been restored to the very highest standards by the UK’s foremost dial restorers.

The Movement

The watch has its all original ultra-high quality, 17 jewel, Calibre P480/C hand-wound movement. This movement is very highly regarded for being particularly accurate and reliable, making this watch perfect for either evening wear or everyday use.

The movement has been fully overhauled and serviced by our watchmaker. This involves complete dismantling to each of its component parts, ultrasonic cleaning, microscope inspection and replacement of parts as required, only with new JLC originals, then careful assembly and oiling ready for careful calibration and final testing.

The movement is signed 'Jaeger-LeCoultre Co' and ‘Fab Suisse’ with the calibre number P480/C and the movement serial number , dating the year of manufacture to 1951.
