Luristan Bronze Sword - 37×3×0.5 cm - (1)
12th - 10 C BC

A Near Eastern bronze dagger or short sword, 12th - 10th Century BC. The blade and hilt cast from a single piece of bronze. The blade is long and very slender with wide mid-rib which tapers to a honed point. The flanged hilt would have held inlays in wood or bone, depending on the preferences and wealth of the owner.

Provenance: Acquired from a Californian auction house in October 2017, prior to this a UK private collection, amassed 1970-1990 (sold Bonham's 2014).
