Description
Il libro d'ore di Renata di Francia - 2019
Illustrated, Religion - Quantity: 1 - Hand coloured illustrations, Limited edition, Numbered edition, With slipcase - Book

The Codex, one of the most precious livres d'heures, was written around 1517 for Renata Valois, royal of France and wife of Ercole II d'Este, a woman not beautiful, but intelligent, lively and cultured, who made Ferrara one of the brightest courts in Europe.
The original codex was lost in 1994, fortunately the procedures for the reproduction of the work were already underway, of which 999 numbered and certified copies were made.
In the text there are twelve elegant illuminations, marginal ornamentation on all written pages, 112 gold powder drop caps. The book of hours, in Latin and French, is a significant testimony to the type of prayers recited in the 16th century.
