Pierre Balmain was one of the most notable figures of the Parisian high fashion world. He would only dress women who left their mark on their time period.  Among these women were queens, princesses, and film and theatre stars. 

With his art, he helped create and spread the idea of luxury 'à la Française' all around the world as we know it.  As a great lover of art and culture, Pierre Balmain was constantly inspired by the oldest and most extravagant art styles around the world.  In particular Arabian and Mandarin art, which both feature large, stylish, and realistic images of flowers and plants. 

When the Swatch Group was tasked in 1987 to design and create Balmain watches, there could be no doubt.  The design of the watches needed to be centred around the elegant and famous arabesque design.  That was the only way a watch brand could bring honour to the prestigious name of Pierre Balmain.  And now, for many years, the watches are still made with their most important characteristic: the ever beautiful arabesque on the dial of the watch. 

The overall state and functioning of the watch is in good condition.
