“Foresta BY36” This work belongs to the cycle of the “Foreste” and was published in the catalog and exhibited in 2022 at the Galleria Radium Artis in the exhibition “No Time No Space,” curated by Alberto Navilli.
“Foresta BY36” represents one of the more mature declensions of Michael Peddio’s expressionist research. The surface is traversed by a lattice of organic lines that intertwine like living nerves, building a dense, stratified, almost pulsating space. The dominant red is not a simple background color, but an energetic field: an emotional space that envelops and supports the vertical structure of the trees. The acidic greens, deep blues, and dark glazes emerge in contrast, generating tension and depth.
The composition is compact yet dynamic. The trunks bend, seek each other, overlap, creating an internal rhythm that leads the gaze upward. The painterly matter is worked with determination: stratifications, engravings and glazes build a living surface capable of reacting to light.
The work is placed in a phase of full technical awareness by the artist, in which gesture, color and structure coexist in balance. Published in the official catalog of the show. Work exhibited in a curated context with certificate. A piece with strong chromatic identity and stylistic recognizability, belonging to a central cycle in the author’s production.
Michael Peddio: My free expression is not confined by a precept idea, but conveyed through color and forms as the only tool, a return to a primordial form of art. The absence of drawing is, for me, a prerogative of the indeterminacy of the work at its birth; as in life and especially in the times we live, there can be no certainty of outcome for any situation. My painting evolves from a white canvas to an unpredictable finale. For me there is only the acceptance of art as an unpredictable and uncontrollable process.

Michael Peddio took his first steps as a child, inspired by his father Riccardo, a painter. The turning point came around 30 years of age, thanks to meeting master Teobaldo Cattini, a Reggio-born macchiaiolo painter, who opened the doors to painting. A great source of inspiration and strength from the painter, a former boxer. In 2012 the meeting with artist Barbara Nicoletto, his current partner, opened the doors to his second artistic season and to artistic maturity. Between 2013 and 2014 painting began to take on an inner meaning. Figurative begins to give way to introspection. Inner force takes over and the canvas becomes a gash; over the years, increasingly unfiltered, increasingly unreserved in showing one’s own I. Strength and weaknesses are shown without shame. The man is naked, without masks.
In April 2016 he is noticed by critic Daniel Buso and, together with his partner Barbara Nicoletto, he exhibits in: The Museum in the Showcase, Bipersonal at the CA’DEI CARRARESI Museum in Treviso, a very important location rarely granted to an emerging artist.
In 2018 Michael Peddio reaches painterly maturity. His paintings are free from conditioning, they express with harmony and beauty all the raw reality the artist wants to be shown.
We find strength and harmony. We find positivity even in tragedy. We find beauty.
Since 2018 we also see the artist collaborating with Galleria REART, opening up to the art world and interacting with other artists in the national scene. We see him exhibiting and also curating exhibitions. He founded, together with artist Barbara Nicoletto and Giorgio Ferretti, the movement of the Chromatists. They gather in a Factory, a place of discussion and work.
In 2020 the meeting with Angela Lazzaretti, owner of Radium Artis Gallery, is a major source of exchange with the national art world for Michael Peddio. The Pietrasanta exhibition at Radium Artis Gallery was his debut in significant art, at 46, giving him the visibility his works deserve.
In 2021 the meeting with critic and curator Alberto Navilli opens another evolutionary steep, seeing his art grow ever more on the path of increasingly raw and uncompromising estemporaneity.
