Beschrijving van de verkoper

Rare English Art Deco Jadeite Glass Vase by Davidson’s, Model 279, 1931-1934

A rare and distinctive English Art Deco vase by Davidson’s, produced in jadeite glass, dating between 1931 and 1934. Model 279 is defined by its strong columnar form, ring detail, rounded foot, and softly flaring trumpet rim.

Like the finest experimental coloured glass of the period, (similar to the colopal and graniver glass in Leerdam, Netherlands), Davidson’s jadeite was difficult and expensive to manufacture. Its tone could shift during handling, which is why examples often show subtle variation in colour. Production was discontinued after only a few years, making these vases today especially scarce and collectible.

This is the large size of the model. No maker’s mark is present, but the design is well documented and widely recognised.

In very good condition, with no cracks or chips. Minor moulding irregularities and the colour does have variations, which makes gives the piece an unusual, interesting look. With sunlight on it it's also a little translucent.
