Beschrijving van de verkoper

The high-quality Italian Renaissance Revival extendable dining table, 1920s/1930s.

The table is attributed to Architetto Maggi Paolo Antonio.

The beautiful graphic style of this label reveals much more about the career timeline of Architetto Paolo Antonio Maggi (Monza, 1898 – 1984).While he is highly sought after by mid-century collectors for his later 1940s and 1950s cabinets manufactured by companies like Marelli & Colico, this label points to an earlier chapter in his design career.

This elegant studio label was designed during his early practice, likely around the time he graduated and established his prominent atelier in Monza during the late 1920s or early 1930s.

"N. 1": Confirms this particular unit was the centerpiece or the first item built in this commission sequence."L. 86": This corresponds directly to a project or ledger number from Maggi's private studio archives. In early 20th-century architectural practices, custom-designed furniture suites for residential villas or institutional halls were logged by commission number. Because it features the heavy, square-molded paneled architecture seen in your first image, it represents a custom revival piece he designed specifically to fit a traditional or historic Italian interior.

Rectangular oak top with pull-out extension leaves, raised on trestle-form supports with paneled pedestals, turned baluster columns, and central stretcher. Retains original paper workshop label beneath the top. Rich walnut patina. A handsome and versatile table suitable for dining or refectory use.

In very great original condition, despite of some scratches/marks, natural wood cracks, consistent with age and use.

Presented of moth holes, preferred to be treated.

Measurement:
Closed: Length 185 cm x width 93cm x height 80cm
Extended: Length 260cm
Made in Italy
Periods: 1920s/1930s
