Jan Montyn (1924-2015) - z.t.

Jan Montyn (1942, Oudewater) was a Dutch painter, graphic artist, poet, and adventurer best known for his expressive etchings and artwork shaped by his experiences in war and travel. He specialized in etching and developed a highly personal style filled with stymbolic landscapes, emotional lines, and themes of conflict, spirituality, memory and freedom.
Montyn eventually reinvented himself as an artist in Amsterdam. He became internationally known for his prints, drawings and etchings (Anton Heyboer encouraged him to pursue etching and gave him his first etching press.
Work of Montyn is held in major collections including: Museum of Modern Art, Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen and The Bibliothéque Nationale in. Paris.
