2 Antique Large Pewter Enema Syringe / Clyster with Wooden Handle – 19th Century

Impressive and authentic 19th-century pewters (tin) enema syringes, also known as a clyster.
These large hand-operated medical instruments features a heavy cylindrical pewter body with characteristic raised rings, a long metal plunger rod, and an original turned wooden handle. The tapered nozzle is intact and hollow.
These syringes were commonly used in the 1800s for administering enemas to both humans and animals. A fascinating and decorative piece of medical history.
