Beschrijving van de verkoper
Curated Collection of Two Antique Gentleman’s Accessories – Hand-Painted Pince-Nez Case with Pince-Nez & Edward VII Coronation Vesta Case (c. 1860–1902)
This carefully curated collector’s lot consists of two authentic gentleman’s accessories dating from the late 19th and early 20th century.
1. Antique Pince-Nez with Hand-Painted Case
An elegant antique rimless pince-nez with round 4 cm lenses and a finely crafted gold-coloured spring bridge. The pince-nez is preserved in its original fitted hand-painted case decorated with delicate floral motifs.
Unlike modern spectacles, a pince-nez has no temples. It is held in place by a spring bridge that gently grips the nose, making it a characteristic accessory of gentlemen, doctors, lawyers and scholars during the late Victorian and Edwardian era.
The frame is unmarked and has not been tested for gold. Therefore, no claim is made regarding the precious metal content.
Case dimensions: 13.5 × 6.8 × 1.5 cm
Lens diameter: 4 cm
Estimated date:
Case: circa 1860–1900
Pince-nez: circa 1890–1910
2. Edward VII Coronation Vesta Case
A commemorative metal vesta (match safe) produced for the coronation of King Edward VII in 1902. One side features the King’s portrait, while the reverse displays the Royal Arms and the motto “Dieu et Mon Droit”.
Dimensions: 5.2 × 3.8 × 1.3 cm
Estimated date: circa 1901–1902.
Both pieces show honest signs of age and use consistent with their age. The hand-painted decoration remains attractive, the pince-nez retains its original character, and the commemorative vesta case has developed a pleasing antique patina.
Please study the photographs carefully, as they form an integral part of the description.
The lot will be carefully packed and shipped insured with Track & Trace.
