Icoon - Moeder Gods, Vreugde aller Lijdenden - Hout

Grote en fijne icoon in briljante kleuren, met voorstelling van de Moeder Gods ‘Vreugde van allen die lijden’.
Tempera op krijtgrond op houten paneel, met kovceg en twee sponki in de rug van het paneel, waarvan één ontbreekt. Rechter- en onderrand licht geschonden, op enkele plaatsen is de verf afgeschilferd. Nimbussen en vleugels van de engelen in bladgoud.
Rusland, mogelijk Palech, midden 19de eeuw, 35,2 x 30,2 cm.

Helemaal bovenaan verschijnt in een cirkelsegment de zegenende God Sabaoth.
Centraal in een mandorla (stralenkrans) de gekroonde Moeder Gods met op de linkerarm het eveneens gekroonde Christuskind, in de rechterhand een scepter. Links van hen, v.l.n.r. de H. apostelen Paulus en Petrus en de Engelbewaarder met zwaard, rechts de H. Dionysius de Areopagiet, eerste bisschop van Athene, de H. Johannes Evangelist of Theoloog (Ioann Bogoslov) en de H. martelares Natalia.
Vier engelen bevelen zieken en noodlijdenden aan bij de Moeder Gods, in drie groepen van vier en een groep van zes rechtsonder.

Some light dammage on the right and under board, some minor areas of paint lost, painting layer with minor missing parts. The haloes of the Virgin and het Child and those of the angels are in goldleaf, as are the wings of the angels.

In the very upper part appears on a bank of clouds the blessing God Father. In the center is the representation of the crowned Mother of God in a madorla; she holds the Christ-child on her left arm, in her right hand she has a sceptre. At her right side, f.l.t.r. the holy Apostles Peter and Paul and the Angel Guardian, at her left side Saint Denis from the Areopagus, first bishop of Athens, Saint John the Evangelist (Ioann Bogoslov) and Saint martyr Natalia. Four angels present the suffering people to the Mother of God.
