Beschrijving

Verfijnde antieke Viennese stoel van Jacob & Josef Kohn, vervaardigd uit gebogen hout gestoomd en gekenmerkt door een elegant design met Viennese smaak, daterend uit het late 19e en vroeg 20e eeuw.

De stoel heeft een hoog en fijn gevormd rugleuning, met golvende decoratieve elementen die elegantie en beweging aan de structuur geven. Vooral interessant is de ronde, versierde zitting, verfraaid met een reliëf ornamentaal motief in waaier/schelpvorm.

De structuur wordt afgerond door sierlijk gebogen poten en een cirkelvormig verbindingsonderdeel aan de onderkant. Het hout behoudt een aangename patine uit de periode, met warme en natuurlijke tonaliteiten.

Onder de zitting bevindt zich een oude kartonnen etiket van Jacob & Josef Kohn, Wien, een belangrijk identificerend element van de fabrikant.

Conditie

De stoel verkeert in goede vintage staat gezien de leeftijd, met normale tekenen van tijd en gebruik.

Er zijn krassen, schuursporen, kleine onvolkomenheden en slijtage van de afwerking, naast natuurlijke variaties in de patina. Daarnaast zijn kleine gaatjes zichtbaar die aangeven dat er historisch houtworm aanwezig kon zijn.

Uit de foto’s kan niet worden vastgesteld of er momenteel activiteit van houtworm is; een eventueel preventief onderhoud wordt daarom aangeraden.

Al met al betreft het een stuk met een sterk antiquariale karakter, ideaal voor verzamelaars, klassieke omgevingen, Art Nouveau (Jugendstil), vintage of als elegante decoratieve en functionele toevoeging.

Elegant antique Jacob & Josef Kohn Viennese chair, made of steam-bent wood and characterized by a refined Viennese design dating from the late 19th to early 20th century.

The chair features a tall, finely shaped backrest with curved decorative elements that give the structure an elegant and distinctive appearance. Particularly attractive is the round decorated seat, featuring a raised fan/shell ornamental motif.

The structure is completed by gracefully curved legs and a circular lower connecting element. The wood retains a beautiful aged antique patina with warm natural tones.

An old Jacob & Josef Kohn, Wien paper label is preserved underneath the seat and represents an important identifying element of the manufacturer.

Condition

The chair is in good vintage condition considering its age, with normal signs of age and use.

There are scratches, abrasions, small imperfections and wear to the finish, together with natural variations in the antique patina. Small holes compatible with historical woodworm activity are also visible in some areas of the wood.
