Leona Hirota - SELF - 1994

SELF is a photography book by Leona Hirota, a Japanese actress and filmmaker, published by Schola in 1994.

A distinctive feature of this book is that Hirota herself participated in the production as the photographer, creating the work through self-shooting. By photographing herself while also taking control of the camera, she created a personal and experimental photographic work that differs from a conventional celebrity photobook.

The book is an interesting example of Japanese photography publishing in the 1990s, particularly for collectors interested in Japanese celebrity photography and works in which the subject is also directly involved in the photographic process.
