Kaga Modern Makie Collection - Vulpen

Item Description:

This exquisite fountain pen is part of the Kaga Modern Makie Collection, a line of Japanese writing instruments celebrated for their fusion of traditional artistry and contemporary utility. Entitled Spring and Autumn – Momiji & Sakura, this piece features hand-painted motifs of cherry blossoms and maple leaves in shimmering hues of gold, red, and green, all executed using traditional Kaga maki-e lacquer techniques from Ishikawa Prefecture.

Crafted by a skilled artisan using the Nakamura-nuri (中村塗り) method, the pen body is adorned with gold leaf and meticulous brushwork, creating a luxurious texture and depth. The clip and fittings are gold-tone, complementing the rich black lacquer body. This fountain pen includes a cartridge/converter system and is presented in a fitted case lined with yellow satin and textured washi-style paper.

An ideal collector’s item or a meaningful gift, this pen not only offers exceptional writing performance but also serves as a portable work of traditional Japanese art.
