This elegant antique metal, silver-plated "Surtout de table" (table platter) was crafted in France circa 1880-1910. Oval in shape with intricate side handles, the tray stands on four small scrolled feet decorated with acanthus leaf motifs, over a scalloped apron embellished with floral and shell decor. The "Surtout" is dressed with the original inset mercury glass mirrored plateau over a wooden base. The Rococo style centrepiece is in excellent condition, commensurate with age and use, and adorns a rich, patinated silver finish. Use this beautiful piece to enhance the look of your dining room table. A few darker spots and some scratches on the mirror's edges (see pictures). Measures: 20.75" W x 11.5" D.
