A well-preserved early eighteenth-century edition of Tusser’s influential manual on English husbandry. Arranged by the months of the year, the work offers practical guidance on sowing, planting, land improvement, and rural management, combining agricultural instruction with Tusser’s characteristically concise and often witty verse. An important text in the history of early modern farming and seasonality. Some foxing throughout; a small loss to the corners of a few leaves, not affecting the text (notably p. 3 of Part III). The binding is attractive. Provenance: with the engraved bookplate of Strickland Freeman, Esq., Fawley Court, to the front pastedown.
