Aged 15 years, J.M. vintages with leather labels have been produced every year since 1982. Before that, there were also "extra old" rums (pre-1982 and even pre-1974), the neck label not yet indicating the year. This neck label disappeared in the early 1990s (1994/1996) to make way for a second label beneath the main one. From then on, J.M. "leather" bottlings were no longer exclusively and systematically 15-year-old rums. This J.M. Vieux Hors d'Age 75cl 50% ABV Leather Label Rum from the J.M. distillery has aged for many years in ex-bourbon American oak barrels in the distillery's cellars at the MACOUBA estate in northern Martinique, at the foot of Mount Pelée.
