Impressive standing cross from the Fin de Siècle period, made of deep black ebonized wood, with a highly detailed figure of Christ (Corpus Christi) and skull in matte white bisque porcelain. This piece combines the classic austerity of ebonite with the purity of bisque porcelain, characteristic of high-quality devotional art from this period. Material: Ebonized (blackened) turned wood for the structure. The Corpus Christi and the Golgotha ​​skull are made of bisque porcelain (unglazed ceramic). Style & Period: Late 19th century . From a French workshop. Decoration: Turned wood elements on the base and cross, including a decorative chain that hangs elegantly from the arms of the cross. Classical symbolism such as the INRI scroll and the skull on the base. Total Height: 45 cm Cross Width: 13 cm Foot Diameter: 11.5 cm Condition: Very Good, Presentable Condition. The delicate bisque porcelain is remarkably intact and free of cracks or chips. Note: Minor signs of age on the wood. Two small, decorative ornaments that were originally present are missing (See last photo). However, this is discreet and hardly affects the overall appearance. This is a wonderful display piece for collectors of religious and 19th-century art objects.
