Antique German Silver Serving Set (2 Pieces) - Ludwig Bertsch, Karlsruhe - c. 1900 - 261g An exquisite and substantial antique German silver serving set, consisting of a large serving spoon and a matching server. This set was produced circa 1900 by the renowned firm Ludwig Bertsch (Karlsruhe). The Serving Spoon (117g): Features a magnificent Vermeil (gold-plated silver) bowl, designed both for aesthetic luxury and to protect the silver from oxidation. The bowl showcases intricate hand-cut ajouré (pierced) work and fine floral engravings. A solid silver server with a polished finish. It is decorated with elegant hand-engraved foliate scrolls that match the motif of the spoon. Both pieces feature heavy, high-relief handles in the Louis XVI / Neo-Classical style, decorated with laurel garlands, ribbons, and acanthus leaf details. Ludwig Bertsch, Karlsruhe (Germany). Stamped with the maker's mark "L-B" with a central symbol on both handles. Total Weight: 261 grams. Material: Genuine silver and gold-plated Period: Circa 1890–1910. Condition: Excellent. These pieces have been remarkably well-preserved over time. The delicate pierced work on the spoon remains perfectly intact, and the contrast between the gilded bowl and the silver server is striking. Only minimal surface signs of age are present, commensurate with its antique status.
