Descrição fornecida pelo vendedor

Important antique German terrestrial globe titled “Columbus-Erdglobus”, published by Columbus-Verlag G.m.b.H., Berlin-Lichterfelde, one of the most respected European cartographic publishers of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

The globe is made of 12 original lithographed gores, mounted on a papier-mâché sphere, following traditional manufacturing techniques of the period.
It has a diameter of 33 cm and a total height of 60 cm, including the stand.

The original cartouche, well preserved and clearly legible, bears the names Johs. Riedel, R. Neuse, and C. Luther, prominent figures in early 20th-century German cartography. The historical place names, geographic grid, and typographic style confirm a dating to the early 20th century.

The globe is mounted on its original turned solid-wood base, elegant and well balanced, featuring an integrated compass and a graduated brass sundial, both highly desirable elements for collectors.

The cartographic surface shows a genuine period patina, with age-consistent wear such as light abrasions, natural paper toning, and signs of historical use. No obvious modern restorations are visible.

A highly attractive and collectible piece, ideal for antique globe collectors, libraries, professional offices, or refined interior settings.

Condition
Good for its age. General age wear and original patina present. Please refer carefully to the photographs.
