French Silver & Banded Agate - Caixa - Marca de Importação Charançon, c. 1900
Small and elegant French silver and banded agate box, with a finely engraved, guilloché-style silver body. The lid and base are set with richly figured brown and white banded agate panels.
The silver mount bears the French charançon import mark, indicating silver of 800 fineness or higher. Probably late 19th to early 20th century.
In good, attractive and usable condition. There are two fine hairline cracks to the agate on the underside, as shown in the photos; they do not affect use.
