Patricia Lee Smith (nascida em 30 de dezembro de 1946) é uma cantora, compositora, poeta, pintora, autora e fotógrafa norte-americana. Seu álbum de estreia de 1975, Horses, a tornou uma membro influente do movimento de punk rock baseado em Nova Iorque. Smith fundiu rock e poesia em seu trabalho. Em 1978, sua canção mais conhecida, "Because the Night", coescrita com Bruce Springsteen, atingiu a 13ª posição na Billboard Hot 100 e a quinta na UK Singles Chart.

Em 2005, Smith foi nomeada Comandante da Ordre des Arts et des Lettres pelo Ministério da Cultura francês. Em 2007, ela foi introduzida no Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Em novembro de 2010, Smith ganhou o National Book Award por suas memórias Just Kids, escritas para cumprir uma promessa que fez a Robert Mapplethorpe, seu parceiro de longa data. Ela está em 47º lugar na lista da Rolling Stone dos 100 Maiores Artistas de Todos os Tempos, publicada em 2010, e recebeu o Polar Music Prize em 2011.
