Bancada - Esmalte, Porcelana - estilo de Jacob Petit
A French porcelain vase base in the manner of the Jacob Petit workshop, Paris, dating to the first half of the 19th century, circa 1820–1850. The piece is hand-formed and hand-decorated throughout, with a white, blue and green ground glaze overlaid with applied Rococo-style plant reliefs and heavy gilding covering much of the surface. Jacob Petit (born Jacob Mardochée, 1796–1865) was a noted Parisian porcelain manufacturer whose workshop was celebrated for extravagant Rococo Revival decoration precisely of this character; this piece is attributed in the manner of his production but is unsigned and no factory mark is present, so attribution to the workshop itself cannot be confirmed. The piece appears to have functioned as a fitted base or socle for a matching vase. Condition is Very Good for age: the modelling and polychrome enamels are crisp and intact, and only very light surface wear to the gilding is present, consistent with age. No chips, cracks, repairs, or restorations are visible. Weight is 433 g.
Size: 13.5 x 18.5 cm.
