Emile Gallé - Mesa - Madeira

Antique Art Nouveau Nesting Table by Emile Gallé (Single Table) – Marquetry Work with Sailboats, c. 1890–1900

Up for auction is a rare and highly decorative antique Art Nouveau side table, originally part of a famous set of nesting tables, featuring fine marquetry work and bearing the iconic signature "Gallé" on the tabletop.

Origin & Context: Originally belonging to a traditional 4-piece nesting set, this single table is offered individually. This makes it an ideal stand-alone decorative or side table for collectors who appreciate Art Nouveau craftsmanship without requiring a full set.

Condition & Age: Estimated to be approximately 130 years old, this piece is in very good antique condition for its age. A comprehensive photo gallery from multiple angles is provided to capture every detail and minor imperfection honestly, reflecting the exact real-life state of the item.

Artistry & Design: The top displays a beautifully rendered maritime scene in wood marquetry, depicting classic sailboats on water crafted from various wood veneers. The elegant wooden frame and legs feature graceful curves characteristic of the period.

Custom Protective Glass Top: To combine historical beauty with daily practicality, the table comes with a custom-made double-glass top (originally commissioned for €100). It was specifically sized to frame the central marquetry design perfectly while leaving the outer wooden border exposed. The heavy double glass makes the surface heat-resistant, allowing you to safely place hot cups, mugs, or items on it without damaging the delicate wood underneath.

Dimensions:
Table Height (without glass): 65.3 cm
Wooden Tabletop Size: 42.3 cm x 37.7 cm
Custom Double Glass Size: 40 cm x 35.5 cm (Total thickness: 0.9 cm)
