Gebrüder Dingeldein (Dingeldein Brothers), Hanau (founded 1868) - Låda - Silver - Fint silveretui
A large, heavy and beautifully worked pierced silver étui, richly decorated in the Rococo Revival taste. The case is covered with deep openwork scrolls, flowers and rocailles, all crisply modelled, and centred on each side with an oval repoussé medallion showing a flowing allegorical female figure.
The domed hinged cover continues the openwork design and lifts to reveal the original velvet-lined interior. The étui is suspended by its original chain from a matching silver châtelaine clip, cast with a classical female profile and ornate scrollwork.
The piece carries a set of pseudo-hallmarks often used by Hanau silversmiths around 1890–1910: a dolphin, a griffin, a ram’s head and a crowned mask, imitating earlier Dutch-style marks. These decorative punches were typical of Hanau workshops producing elaborate small silver objects in historicist styles.
A striking, finely detailed example — complete, attractive, and with strong presence.
