An album page featuring the 1840 introduction of the 1d Black SG2 and Mulready letters, 2d Blue SG5 and then the 1841 1d Red-Brown SG8. The Mulready front is the version containing advertisements on the reverse, so although not complete is a scarce find. The advertisement on the Mulready front is identified as being part of the Atlas Assurance Company adverts, and a complete photograph of this advert, taken from a full Mulready letter is shown, along with the portion marked in red. The Stanley Gibbons Concise Catalogue 2023 lists the complete 1d Mulready sheets with advertisements under SG ME1(a) at from £850 ( blank versions £550). The 1d envelope version is under listed under SG ME2(a) at from £3500 (£550 blank version) The face of the Mulready letter sheets and envelopes were the same, so it's not easy with just this front piece to identify which one this is. However it is a good addition to a collection along with the 1d Black, 2d Blue and 1d Red-Brown, which all have great colour.
