An outstanding wooden katana’dansu 刀箪笥 (sword cabinet), constructed in a single compact section. Fully restored, cleaned, and waxed.
Made from indigenous hinoki 檜 (cypress) wood and finished in a deep dark brown tone that highlights the natural grain. The cabinet is fitted with two full-width drawers, each equipped with iron warabite-shaped bail handles.
Traditionally, katana’dansu were used for the storage of sword blades in their long, shallow drawers, particularly by sword polishers and craftsmen.
