It is designed to hold two swords and features genuine deer antlers, adding to its striking presence. Kato Kiyomasa (1562–1611) was a fearless daimyō who served Toyotomi Hideyoshi during the Azuchi–Momoyama and early Edo periods. Standing nearly 190 cm tall, he was famed for his imposing appearance on the battlefield, often wearing his iconic tall, conical helmet known as a naga-eboshi-style kabuto. This helmet’s elongated shape and painted red sun disc symbol at the front made it instantly recognisable and symbolised both authority and divine protection. The carved wooden structure faithfully reproduces this form, including the mask section (mempō), which is rarely found on such decorative stands. Real deer fur remains at the base of the antlers, enhancing the lifelike effect. The surface shows signs of age, including scuffs, discolouration, dust, stains, and surface wear. There is flaking and cracking of the painted layer, small holes, a prominent vertical crack along the front centre with several smaller cracks below it, and a large split running from the top toward the back, with additional cracks underneath. The antlers are securely attached, though the left one shows slight movement. Please refer to the photos for details. Dimensions: approx.
