"Snow Scene (Shirakawago)" - Limited 32/100 - Norikane Hiroto 乗兼広人 (b1949) - Japan

This delicate piece depicts a Gassho-style house in Shirakawa-go, a World Heritage Site. This region is one of Japan's snowiest areas and has a harsh climate, where people endure heavy snowfall for up to three to four months. The steep thatched roofs covered in deep snow, red persimmons lingering on the branches, and the quiet winter scenery... The delicate lines characteristic of copperplate engraving, based on a monotone color scheme, combined with the subtle warmth of Norikane's specialty, beautifully express the warmth of ancient Japanese sentiment even amid the harshness of winter. The serene scene brings quiet healing to the soul. Technic: Etching Artist: Hiroto NORIKANE 乗兼広人 (b 1949) Title: "Snow Scene (Shirakawago)" Limited 32/100, in 2018 Japan Hand signed and numbered by the artist with title and red artist seal.
