The Fifty-Three Stations of the Tōkaidō Series – Kanagawa-juku (神奈川宿) Ukiyo-e - Utagawa Kunisada (歌川国貞,1786—1865) - Japan (Utan reservationspris)

Title: The Fifty-Three Stations of the Tōkaidō Series – Kanagawa-juku (神奈川宿) Ukiyo-e Artist: Utagawa Kunisada (歌川国貞,1786—1865) Technique: Woodblock Print Artist’s Markings: Signed on the Print Paper Size: 40.3 × 27.5 cm (15.87 × 10.83 in) Mounting Board Size: 47.8 × 32.8 cm (18.82 × 12.91 in) Paper Material: Washi (和紙) Paper Maker: Yamaguchi Shōmatsu (山口荘松) Carver: Itō Susumu (伊藤 進) Printer: Uchikawa Matashirō (内川又四郎) Publisher: Renju Kankōkai (蓮珠刊行会) This exquisite ukiyo-e nishiki-e was originally created in 1852 (the 5th year of Kaei [嘉永 5 年]) by Utagawa Kunisada, a master of late Edo-period Japanese ukiyo-e art. It is part of his renowned The Fifty-Three Stations of the Tōkaidō (東海道五十三次) series, titled Kanagawa-juku (神奈川宿). The version presented here is a reprint issued in the 1960s. The composition adopts a classic combination of bijin-ga (美人画,beautiful woman paintings) and meisho-e (名所絵,famous place paintings). In the foreground, an Edo-period beauty wearing a kimono patterned with cherry blossoms kneels gracefully; the writing paper and inkstone placed beside her highlight her elegant and serene temperament. The background depicts the coastal scenery of Kanagawa-juku, with scattered sailing ships on the sea and faint outlines of coastal towns. A red title box marked Kanagawa-juku (神奈川宿) in the upper right corner clearly indicates the station’s name along the Tōkaidō route. The waka poems (和歌) inscribed at the top of the print are a common literary embellishment in ukiyo-e meisho-e, endowing the work with both regional charm and aesthetic appeal. Due to age, the washi paper shows signs of oxidation, yellowing and faint foxing. Overall, the work is in good condition. - The picture is part of the description. The color of the item may be slightly different from the picture (due to camera and screen settings). - The successful bidder will be responsible for any customs duties and taxes (if applicable). - This item will be mailed by the postal service of Taiwan in the form of airmail with insurance attached.
