“Naniwa” (難波) - Japanese Woodblock Print — “Noh Picture Encyclopedia: Naniwa Taiko, Kanze’s Divine Dance” — Meiji - Japan - Meiji-perioden (1868-1912) (Utan reservationspris)

This lot presents an original Japanese color woodblock print from the renowned “Noh Picture Encyclopedia”, depicting Naniwa Taiko, Kanze’s Divine Dance, a classical scene from Noh theatre. The composition shows elaborately costumed performers rendered with refined line work and controlled color application, characteristic of Meiji-period theatrical prints. The work is attributed to Tsukioka Kōgyo (月岡耕漁), a leading artist of Noh subjects, in collaboration with Matsuno Sofu (松野素風), whose involvement is documented in published editions of this series. The reverse includes printed explanatory text, consistent with encyclopedia-style Noh publications of the period. This example is offered unframed, mounted on a backing sheet, and remains a desirable reference piece for collectors of Japanese prints, Noh theatre iconography, and Meiji-period cultural works. Print size: approx. 25 x 37 cm Mount size: approx. 41.5 x 29.5 cm Method of Shipment FedEx or Japan Post NOTICE The lot will be carefully packaged and shipped by FedEx or Japan Post. If not, the parcel may be returned to me, and reshipping will cost more than twice the original shipping fee. I appreciate your cooperation.
