The scroll on the left is signed by Cuiyun (翠雲) and titled “Retreat in the Cloud Mountains” (雲山別館). It depicts a panoramic view of layered mountains and rivers, with scattered pavilions and clusters of pine trees conveying the tranquility of a distant retreat in nature. The soft, muted tones and elegant brushwork evoke a classical literati aesthetic. The scroll painted with the same refined technique. Jagged peaks rise sharply in the background, with a secluded temple nestled among trees in the valley below. Above the landscape is a poetic inscription that enhances the lyrical atmosphere of the scene. Both paintings are rendered on silk and mounted as traditional hanging scrolls with patterned brocade and wooden roller ends. Some minor signs of age may be present.
