Klocka & garnityrset Ludvig XIV Marmor, Brons, Mässing - 1850-1900

Authentic French mantel clock (“pendule de cheminée”) with original matching garniture, dating from the late 19th century (circa 1880–1900). This elegant Neo-Empire pendule à colonnes is executed in black marble with contrasting breccia marble panels, richly decorated with finely cast fire-gilded (ormolu) bronze mounts. The twisted columns, claw feet and decorative details are characteristic of high-quality French production from the Napoléon III / late 19th-century period. The clock is accompanied by its original matching garniture, consisting of two five-light candelabra, made of fire-gilded bronze on matching marble bases. Finding such sets complete and original has become increasingly difficult. The clock is fitted with an original French round movement, striking the hours and half-hours on a bell. The movement is wound by key and regulated by pendulum. Time and strike trains are wound separately. When fully wound, the clock has an approximate 8-day power reserve, which is standard for French mantel clocks of this period. The movement runs; however, the pendulum beat requires adjustment and a routine service is recommended for optimal long-term performance. Original fire-gilt bronze with untouched patina (no re-gilding, no polishing) Minor age-related wear consistent with period Small chip to the marble at the rear corner (not visible from the front) Clock and garniture are fully matching and original Original pendulum and winding key included No modern alterations or restorations Origin: France Period: circa 1880–1900 Style: Neo-Empire / Louis XVI Revival Materials: black marble, breccia marble, fire-gilt bronze Movement: mechanical French round movement, striking on bell Power reserve: approx. 8 days Includes: clock, two candelabra, pendulum and key A genuine and decorative 19th-century French mantel clock set, ideal for collectors, decorators or classic interiors. A complete garniture of this quality and condition is becoming increasingly rare on the market.
