For this edition, The Macallan delves into the world of tea, working with tea purveyor JING. This whisky is inspired by an Oolong tea named Phoenix Honey Orchid. Predominantly aged in sherry-seasoned American oak casks, there are notes of peach, florals, and honey reminiscent of the tea. Meanwhile, a portion of sherry-seasoned European oak matured whisky brings rich, roasted notes and a touch of tannic astringency, while bourbon casks offer a final touch of sweetness. The presentation box for this edition is made from waste tea leaves, deemed unsuitable for consumption and repurposed to make paper.
