Nyckelskål (2) - Lumax - Frankrike

Title Glass “Vide-Poche” cubes – attributed to Le Corbusier & Charlotte Perriand – Lumax – set of 2 – French modernist design Description Rare set of two modernist glass “vide-poche” storage compartments / ashtrays, produced by Lumax and attributed to Le Corbusier and Charlotte Perriand. The design is inspired by the glass blocks used in modernist architecture, a material frequently applied in the architectural projects of Le Corbusier. The simple cubic form reflects the functional and minimalist design principles associated with mid-20th century modernism. These objects were produced by Lumax in France during the 1950s and have become iconic small design objects from the period. They can be used as ashtrays, desk objects, vide-poches or small storage containers. This lot consists of two cubes in different sizes. The smaller cube fits perfectly inside the larger one, creating a modular composition typical of modernist design. One of the pieces appears to be an earlier example, identifiable by the marking and a slightly different tone of glass. Finding two examples together in different sizes is uncommon, making this a rare set. Attribution: Le Corbusier & Charlotte Perriand Manufacturer: Lumax Origin: France Period: mid-20th century Material: pressed glass Dimensions Large: 8 × 15 × 15 cm Small: 6 × 12 × 12 cm Marks Marked Lumax / Lumax Recuit. Provenance Acquired from a Dutch architect and collector, who used these objects as styling elements in architectural projects and in his office. Condition Good vintage condition with signs of age and use. One piece shows scratches on the base and a slightly different glass tone. Please review the photos carefully for a detailed impression of the condition. A rare opportunity to acquire a set of two iconic modernist glass objects attributed to Le Corbusier and Charlotte Perriand.
