Tesil - .916 (88 Zolotniki) silver - Sovjetperioden
This silver-gilt tea strainer features a circular bowl with a concentric pierced pattern for filtration. The reverse of the bowl displays a recessed rectangular hallmark containing Cyrillic characters. The interior of the bowl is finished with a gold-tone gilding, while the exterior and handle are decorated with polychrome cloisonné enamel. The handle features a floral and foliate design in shades of gray and white set against a black enamel ground. The handle terminates in a gilded, concave thumb piece. The construction utilizes silver wire work to separate the distinct enamel color fields. The metal surfaces exhibit a consistent patina, and the gilding remains present on the interior of the bowl and the terminal of the handle. Made of high-quality 916/1000 silver with a gold-colored finish (gilt/gold wash) on the inside and on the handle. Such pieces are often vintage and are considered collector's items. It is a traditional accessory for tea ceremonies, designed to be placed over a cup while pouring tea. Made in 1957 or 1967 during the Soviet Union era.
