Titel
Japanese Lacquer Suzuribako Writing Set – Half-Moon Form – Maki-e Chrysanthemum – Meiji / Showa Period
⸻
Description
A refined Japanese calligraphy set (Suzuribako) featuring a distinctive half-moon shape, crafted using traditional lacquer and Maki-e techniques.
The set is decorated with an elegant chrysanthemum (Kiku) motif. The interior and tray display beautiful Nashiji (“pear-skin lacquer”), a traditional technique in which fine gold flakes are dispersed within the lacquer to create a deep, softly shimmering surface.
The exterior lid features dynamic wave-like patterns executed in gold and silver Maki-e, creating a striking contrast with the natural wood grain finish of the upper surface.
This comprehensive writing set includes:
• Halvmåne-lackerad bricka/låda (lock och bas)
• Bläcksten (Suzuri)
• Bläckstav (Sumi)
• Krysanthemum-formad vatten-droppe i brons/mässing
• Metallvikt (Bunchin)
The chrysanthemum is an important symbol in Japanese culture and is associated with the Imperial family, as well as longevity and rejuvenation, adding cultural significance to this elegant piece.
