Inspired by the literary universe of Dino Buzzati, *Geografia dell'Attesa* (Geography of Waiting) formed the centrepiece of a performative installation staged at Bookcity Milano 2025, devoted entirely to the writer. Designed by Melania Bianco and crafted by skilled Indian artisans, this one-of-a-kind work — produced as a unique, single piece — takes the form of a hand-tufted wall rug in wool and viscose — not intended for treading, but for contemplation. It invites a slow gaze, one capable of transforming vision into experience and giving shape to waiting. The piece translates into visual form some of the founding themes of Buzzati's poetics: the threshold between the real and the imaginary, the tension between stillness and desire, the search for meaning in the invisible. Deep chromatic fields — blue, green and sand — construct a rarefied landscape traversed by suspended human presences, while fragments of the city overlay natural visions, evoking unstable geographies. Seen from afar, it composes itself into a unified image; up close, it unfolds into a texture of details that demand time — with the same patience that reading requires. *Geografia dell'Attesa* invites the viewer to pause, to move through the work with their gaze, to inhabit that waiting.
