The construction and form are consistent with classical North Indian musical instruments. According to the previous auction house, the instrument dates to the 1960s and was reportedly purchased in Pune (India) in 1965, adding an interesting element of provenance. The body features a wooden structure with a skin-covered soundboard, a traditional characteristic that contributes to its distinctive tonal qualities.
