Beskrivning från säljaren
Presenting a beautiful vintage Khatam Kari chess set, handcrafted before the 1979 Revolution and showcasing one of the country's most celebrated decorative art forms. Renowned for its intricate geometric marquetry, traditional Khatam Kari reached some of its finest levels of craftsmanship during the pre-revolutionary period, making earlier examples particularly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts.
Measuring approximately 30 x 30 cm, this elegant set features a fully inlaid chessboard accompanied by a complete set of finely crafted bone chess pieces. The pieces retain their original character and are free from chips, cracks, or damage. The original storage box is also included.
The set remains in very good vintage condition. A small bubble has formed in one area of the inlay due to age, as shown in the photographs, but this does not detract from its display appeal or functionality. Aside from this minor age-related imperfection, the set is exceptionally well preserved.
Combining artistry, craftsmanship, and cultural heritage, this Khatam Kari chess set is far more than a game—it is a decorative work of Persian art and a tangible reminder of a bygone era of Iranian craftsmanship. A wonderful acquisition for collectors of Persian antiques, Islamic art, decorative objects, or vintage chess sets.
