Horace Roye (1906–2002) and the photographer known as Vala were London-based pioneers of mid-century glamour photography. In the 1950s they co-invented the “Roye-Vala” 3D process and issued the Stereo Glamour Series—pocket books of nude and showgirl studies supplied with a Roye-Vala viewer—making their images a cult collectible. Roye, already famous for provocative pre-war nudes and censorship battles, brought polished lighting and bold staging; Vala’s studio craft helped translate that style into striking stereoscopic prints. Vintage Roye-Vala items (books, cards, and prints) are sought after for their innovative technique and iconic place in British popular photography.
Diana Dors (1931–1984) was a British film and television actress who became one of the most famous screen blondes of postwar Britain. Born Diana Fluck in Swindon, she rose to prominence in the 1950s through films such as Yield to the Night (1956), The Long Haul (1957), and Tread Softly Stranger (1958), combining glamour with a strong dramatic presence. Often promoted as Britain’s answer to Marilyn Monroe, Dors also built a long career in cabaret, television, and popular entertainment. Today, she remains an iconic figure of British cinema and celebrity culture.
