Real vacuum tube-driven overdrive from Maxon's long-running Real Overdrive series.

This is a MAXON ROD880 Real Overdrive made in Japan.

Based on the serial number and internal component date codes, the pedal is estimated to have been manufactured around July 1996.

The ROD880 was developed as a professional tube-driven overdrive/distortion pedal and remained in Maxon's lineup until its discontinuation in April 2012.

Featuring a genuine 12AX7A vacuum tube in the signal path, the ROD880 was designed to deliver strong sustain, rich harmonic content, and natural responsiveness to picking attack. Unlike many tube-branded pedals of its era, it utilizes a true tube-driven circuit to create natural compression, amplifier-like dynamics, and powerful overdrive/distortion tones.

Its active Bass, Mid Boost, and Treble controls provide extensive tone-shaping capability, allowing the pedal to cover a wide range of sounds from natural crunch and vintage-style overdrive to powerful distortion tones. The built-in Noise Reduction circuit can be activated independently and includes an adjustable threshold control, helping to suppress unwanted noise while preserving the dynamic response of the tube stage.

As one of Maxon's more ambitious analog tube pedal designs, the ROD880 remains an appealing model for both players and collectors seeking authentic Japanese-made tube-driven effects.

Condition: Good cosmetic condition for its age, with scratches, paint wear, minor rust on some metal hardware, and normal signs of use. Please refer to the photos.
