Vas - Legering, Brons - Japan (Utan reservationspris)

Artist: Zuiho (瑞峰), workshop production Material: Cast metal (special alloy) with multicolored patinated finish Origin: Japan – Takaoka City, Toyama Prefecture (attributed) Period: Late 20th century Condition: Good to very good vintage condition. Minor surface wear and patina variation consistent with age.No cracks, repairs or structural damage observed. No original wooden box included. ⸻ Description This decorative metal vase features a classical baluster form with a wide mouth and raised foot, accented by a pair of finely cast dragon-shaped handles positioned on either side of the neck. Encircling the body is an elaborate high-relief band depicting phoenix (鳳凰, Hōō) motifs, framed by stylized cloud patterns and geometric borders. The phoenix is traditionally associated with harmony, virtue, and auspicious beginnings, giving the vase both decorative appeal and symbolic meaning. The dragon handles are carefully modeled with expressive faces, flowing forms, and curved horns. In East Asian tradition, dragons symbolize strength, protection, and authority. The deliberate combination of phoenix imagery on the body and dragon motifs on the handles reflects a classical pairing representing balance, harmony, and prosperity—an auspicious theme often seen in traditional decorative arts. The surface is finished with a richly layered patina, combining deep bronze tones with red and green highlights. This multicolored patination enhances the depth of the relief work and gives the piece a strong sculptural presence. Such finishes are characteristic of late 20th-century Japanese decorative metalwork inspired by classical Chinese designs. The underside bears an impressed square seal reading “特殊新合金製 瑞峰作” (Special alloy, Zuiho), indicating production by the Zuiho (瑞峰) workshop. This mark is associated with decorative metalware produced within the tradition of Takaoka metal casting. While no original wooden box (tomobako) is included, the vase itself remains well preserved and visually impressive, suitable for display as an interior accent or collector’s piece. ⸻ Dimensions Vase (approx.): • Height: approx. 23 cm • Maximum diameter: approx. 17 cm • Mouth diameter: approx. 8 cm • Base diameter: approx. 11 cm Weight • Approx. 1.05 kg (Please refer to the photographs for overall proportions.) ⸻ Condition Very good overall condition. No cracks, structural damage, or repairs observed. Surface wear and patina variation are consistent with age and intentional finishing. No original wooden box is included. ⸻ Shipping • Carefully packed and shipped with tracking. • International shipping via Japan Post or Yamato Transport. • Import duties, taxes, VAT, and any other charges are not included in the item price or shipping cost. These charges are the buyer’s responsibility. Please check your country’s customs regulations before bidding.
